The Corona Treatment Centre on the grounds of the Berlin Trade Fair (Messe Berlin) will relieve the burden on hospitals in Berlin so they can keeping care of the seriously ill patients already hospitalized. This will be achieved by admitting Covid 19 patients who do not need intensive care to the treatment centre. The first area with 500 beds was built in hall number 26. Twenty percent of the bed spaces are equipped with the latest version of ventilators machine on the market, available in case the patient´s conditions would get worst. The project is being carried out on behalf of the Senate Department for Health, Care and Equal Opportunities of the State of Berlin.

The layout of the treatment centre is based on modular clusters with 16-24 beds and a central service zone. The advantage of the cluster system, in addition to its flexibility, is the opportunity to be installed in other locations as well. For the nursing and medical staff, a modular construction with changing rooms, offices and lounges is being built outside the exhibition hall.

The focus is on the functional quality of medical care without neglecting the needs of patients and employees. The requirements of hygiene management and occupational safety are guaranteed.

In order to enable the rapid implementation of the project, the usual planning and coordination processes were condensed to the essentials through goal-oriented, direct and decisive communication.
