Common learning space
One secondary school (Realschule), one grammar school (Gymnasium) and one general school (Hauptschule) form the core of the educational complex dating from the 1960s and 1970s. The design drawn up for the secondary and grammar schools helps people find their way; it also optimises the complex’ layout, which had become confusing over time. With the pending renovation and restructuring of energy provision at the site, the framework can now be established for an all-day school to be integrated and operated.

The symbol and starting point for the new design will be the extended, two-storey hall. This serves as the main access point from the entrance in the south to the new, self-contained teacher support centre in the north. At the heart of the complex are the large steps to the first floor that act as the first port of call and funnel to both main levels. Common areas between the secondary school and grammar school are linked logically. The aspiration of innovative educational concepts is reflected in the loosely arranged rows of classrooms and grouped scenarios.
